These are D2-connector 2A88 CANBUS 35 watt HID ballasts, from HYLuxTEK. With true OEM-grade manufacturing, these ballasts are intended to perform for years, with absolutely zero failures. If you have a D2 OEM HID setup with a failed ballast, you can purchase one of these to get back up and running at a fraction of the cost of a new ballast from the dealer. You'll simply need to tap the positive and negative input wires into the power wires powering your original ballast. This ballast should be used with D2 bulbs only (D2S, D2R, D2C, etc). If you have a D1 bulb, or a standard aftermarket AMP HID size such as 9006, H1, or H11, please use our AMP or D1 ballast instead. Most ballasts these days run with digital signal processing (DSP). This allows for a much smoother and more reliable power output, faster warmup, and longer bulb life. However, most digital ballasts still use standardized computing chips to process the information. It is very cost-efficient to use standard chips off the shelf. Instead, the HYLux uses a computing chip designed specifically for the purpose of running an HID bulb. This is known as an application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC). While this is much more expensive than a generic chip, it allows the HYLux ballast to operate with extremely high efficiency and performance, far exceeding that of any generic ballast on the market. The ballast is fully sealed in electrically-safe sealant material, known in the industry as potting. It's not just coated like cheaper ballasts, instead, it is filled to the brim, making the ballast completely waterproof and shockproof. The ballast will make a humming noise during operation- most assume this is bad, but actually, it is primarily a result of microscopic air pockets resonating inside, audible proof that the ballast is completely airtight.With the OEM-grade 23kV igniter, which is also fully waterproof, this ballast will strike the bulb perfectly, every single time. It will function in even the coldest of environments, with a rated minimum operating temperature of -40 degrees.This ballast has a CANBUS module, which is designed to provide extra resistance to the vehicle. This is required for operation in many newer vehicles, as they may otherwise shut off power to your headlights, due to the lower power consumption. The CANBUS module also regualtes the power input, to prevent errors with PWM signals. What is that? Well, many newer vehicles use pulse-width-modulation (PWM) to drive headlights, which basically flickers standard halogen bulbs on and off very quickly, to extend bulb life and lower power consumption. It works great for traditional filament bulbs, but HIDs require constant power to run reliably. The CANBUS module smooths the input signal into a constant power supply to the ballast. It has been tested and is effective with PWM signals up to 100hZ, which is within range of PWM systems in most US-market vehicles, such as Dodge, VW, BMW, etc. We recommend using high-quality aftermarket bulbs with this ballast, such as CNLight, or an OEM-grade bulb such as Philips or OSRAM. If you have a D1 OEM HID setup with a failed ballast, you can purchase one of these to get back up and running at a fraction of the cost of a new ballast from the dealer. Check your factory wires, you might not even need to do any wiring! The input and output connections on this ballast are D1 standard. However, if yours is different, just add the D1 input and output wires to your order. The input wire comes with a pigtail, so you can simply tap the positive and negative input wires into the wires that powered your original ballast. This ballast should be used with D1 bulbs only (D1S, D1R, etc). If you have a D2 bulb, or a standard aftermarket AMP HID size such as 9006, H1, or H11, please use our AMP or D2 ballast instead. We recommend using high-quality D1 aftermarket bulbs with this ballast, or OEM-grade bulbs such as Philips or OSRAM. For D1 size, the igniter is built into the bulb, and some cheap bulbs may not perform well. If you have good bulbs, this ballast will work with them without any issue. When installing HIDs in a dual-filament application, the original factory power signal must be separated into main power for the ballast, and a high beam signal to trigger the bixenon bulb, switching from low beam to high beam. Normally, this is accomplished with a bixenon relay, which connects to the battery and runs to each headlight. However, these can be unreliable as the relay fails over time, and cumbersome to install. These bixenon adapters are a modern, reliable alternative to the traditional wire harness relay. They do not require extra wiring- it's just an adapter! Plug one side into your factory bulb socket, then plug the other side into your HID ballast and bixenon HID bulb. The adapter will power the ballast, and quickly change from low to high beam when you flip the switch in your vehicle. These adapters are fully encapsulated for maximum reliability, and are compatible with all 35W CAN-BUS HID ballasts. Select the size based on the input power signal - H4/9003, H13, 9004, or 9007. The output wires are standard 9006 power to plug into the ballast, and a rectangular 2-pin standard high beam solenoid connector. Included in your order is two adapters, one for each side of your HID kit. Please make sure to select the correct option for bulb size, corresponding to your headlight bulb size.
